NJ Case #56543

Do you worry about the exorbitant costs of long-term care for yourself or your loved one? You may be hoping for Medicaid coverage or have already surrendered in the face of ever-changing eligibility requirements, paperwork requests, and communication lapses.

At Senior Planning Services, our track record of unrelenting success consistently gifts clients with the peace of mind long-term care coverage affords.

The Background

An exasperated family reached out to Senior Planning Services for assistance in getting an elderly, incapacitated patient approved for Medicaid.

The Challenge

An alcoholic, the patient’s relationship with the applicant, his wife, was a messy one. With each of them attempting to hide money from each other, the 30+ (!) bank accounts they owned were even messier. There was a huge amount of gifting, mysterious cash withdrawals and deposits, numerous non-reported properties, as well as a non-reported business discovered by careful review of lookback account expenses which needed to be terminated.

Additionally, because many of the accounts were not originally provided to Senior Planning Services by the family, the spend down had to be redone continuously, as additional accounts were uncovered.

 The Process

In total, more than 1,800 (60 months multiplied by 30 accounts) statements were meticulously reviewed by the SPS team.

Not surprising, due to the complexity of the case, the claim was repeatedly denied by Medicaid. Regardless of the insanely complex financial details and lengthy process, the SPS team would not become dispirited and carried on with their promise of simplifying the Medicaid process for each and every client.

30 bank accounts were reviewed, 14 deadline letters received and replied to, 80 approval requests submitted, and on the 7th attempt, in September of 2022, the case was at long last approved by Medicaid.

Client Gains

Despite the lengthy process requiring 2+ years of solid teamwork and unfailing reserves of energy on behalf of the Senior Planning reviews, requests, and referral teams, there were absolutely no charges added on to the client’s bill.
